I think the point is that there are enough crap films in the world already. As there are enough junk food resteraunts, enough bland TV enough cars, enough plastic bags, enough forgettable throw away and forgettable junk. Bland shit, that is pointless, and simply uses up the resources of the planet, whilst feeding someones ego.
No other business is wrapped in as much shit and hype and completely ridiculous amounts of money. This pisses a lot of people off. It doesnt have to be about making money, in fact I doubt anyone here will make any real money through film making (although you never know).
I say keep those negative and sarcastic thoughts a coming in. The saddest thing in the world would be if everyone kept agreeing with each other....

I think it is really annoying (like in an extreamly ERRRRR! way) when you see HUGE budget films, with crews chosen from "the top of the industry" and they manage to make absolutely intellectually (and artistically)insulting fodder.
THIS UNDISPUTABLY BAD ;(
It's easy to get very annoyed at this
However, everyone knows if you are a kid just learning to compose shots, trying out those lighting tricks (on your poor toy-soldier army)you read about on some forum, getting familiar with the whole gig - you need to just stuff around a bit.
THIS HURTS NO-ONE - NO-ONE SEES IT!
yet there seem to be snipes being made towards people with genuine questions and interests - just because they're basic questions.
Yes, filmmakers come in all different shapes and sizes...ahem......I mean we all have different ideas of what film is about - art/story/money - get over it, it's a big industry with room 4 all kinds of ideas and everyone needs to start somewhere

I agree with Matt 110% (unlike another person who posted here...and you know who you are). I think (as someone new to this) that people should be trying to encourage us newbee's. I think there is an element here that takes himself WAY to seriously. Even Spielberg's first attempts at film when was a kid were just him playing around to see what he could do...and from that we got Schindles List, and Saving Private Ryan (just to name a couple)..imagine if he encountered this kind of negativity when he first got into film and decided not to persue it.

But I'm sure some people think Private Ryan was unoriginal crap. Despite being gripping from beginning to end.
I don't think new filmmakers deserve the blame for anyones feelings of being shortchanged when they visit the cinema.

Matt, I agree with when you say some might not consider Saving Private Ryan to be original. it is when you boil it down to the basics a buddy/war movie. But there is something about the combination of the effects, acting, and directors vision that all gels together and makes it if not orginal, still a great movie.

Didn't I make it clear? I love that movie. Its one of my favourites. I said it was gripping.
It is quite unique in a way. Its cerainly the most realistic war film.

One thing that should never be forgotten in this forum from anyone who is seriuos about film is that this is the place where dreams and self fullfilment starts. Whose to say someone on this board doesn't become the next speilberg or Lucas. At least the people here on this board are doing something about their dreams, a lot of people don't even try.
Have a nice one

All very well, but I am truly sick of
shite. We get it rammed down our throats
every time u turn on the TV, and nearly
every fuckin time u see a film at the
cinema. it's un-escapable.
Every so often I see a fuckin brilliant film.
It's quite rare, so I appreciate it while it lasts.
I don't expect to see "Film art" every time
I see a film- but I just find it insulting
when another turkey rolls out of the
Holywood shed'o'shite and a squillion plebs
line up and see the fucka.
People can't be that thick, can they?
Oh well, I guess I'll get back to swilling
my Sunny Delight, wearing a "designer"
pair of jeans that look not too disimilar to
a pair that cost a quarter of the price,
while similtainiously watching England loose
at every Sport known to man AGAIN.
Christ, I'll be Chris Evans best mate before
you can utter the words-
"Ginger Headed Wanker" at the rate I'm going.
Now all I need is that tasteful fibre glass
front and rear spoiler set, for my spanking
F reg Honda Civic Coupe.
The Civic is the new XR3i ya know.
Well it is if you live in Bradford, anyway.
